Our Interview with The Ross Center
HITH: Laurie, for those who have never heard of The Ross Center, can you tell us who you are and what you specialize in?
Ross Center: The Ross Center is a comprehensive outpatient practice that provides optimal treatment for anxiety and mental health for children, adolescents and adults. Our team of experienced and highly skilled psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists deliver a full spectrum of sophisticated psychiatric and psychological services.
The Ross Center is incredibly respected in the field of Severe Mentall Illness (SMI). Is there anything about the history of the organization you would like our readers to know?
We’ve been providing world-class treatment and championing for those who struggle with anxiety and depression for almost 30 years, with offices in NYC, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. We combine state-of-the-art, evidence-based clinical treatment and medication management with exceptional personal service, designed to create a comfortable environment in which patients of all ages can successfully overcome anxiety, depression, and a wide variety of mental health challenges.
The Ross Center specializes in cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and other evidenced based modalities. We also offer psychological testing including neuropsychological testing, psychoeducational evaluations and social emotional assessments. We’re so passionate about serving our community at large and we do that through our outpatient care and by hosting several educational opportunities and community events for professionals searching for professional development trainings.
That’s amazing! We’ve seen how pivotal the treatment you provide can be for those with anxiety and other mental health disorders. Why is this work so important and how would you say it relates to HITH’s work?
All of our clinicians prioritize the collaboration with other professionals in the community to help support our clients. In particular, we are able to support the clients at Help in the Home by providing quality mental health services to support the life goals of all of the residents. We value the team approach and love collaborating with Help in the Home and other local organizations!
In February 2020 there was a program expansion to The Ross Center! What does this mean for the Help in the Home and Severe Mental Illness community?
Yes, that’s correct! We are excited to announce the launching of our adolescent DBT program, in our Northern Virginia office. Our comprehensive program is staffed with a team of Dialectical Behavior Therapy-trained clinicians who address complex problems including suicidal and self-harming behaviors, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, substance use issues, borderline personality disorder and trauma. We’re really looking forward to expanding our DBT services to adults in the near future as well.
