Client-Centered, Team-Guided: A Case-Study

For over a decade, Help in the Home has been a privately-owned agency that provides personalized care through support and community. Help in the Home helps adults with complex mental health needs achieve stability, independence, and inclusion.

Our team focuses on building an alliance of trust and making sure our community members know that we will stand by them throughout their journey. Connection and infusing joy are at the center of why we do what we do.

In our final blog for 2022, we’re sharing another installment of our Client-Centered, Team-Guided series. These in-depth features introduce you to our amazing clients and also allow us to share in more detail how they’ve courageously partnered with our team alongside their support system. Our goal in sharing their story is to remind our readers that joy CAN be found in the midst of an illness.

Let’s dive in!

Sam’s back story…

Sam is a 33 year old male who was diagnosed with several mental illnesses in early adulthood. Before coming to Help in the Home, he was hospitalized for reasons related to his mental illness. Sam joined Help in the Home in 2018 and continues to receive support through our Individual Support Service where we provide personalized mental health support for him, as well as working with his psychiatrists and therapist at Cornerstone Montgomery.

Strengths and Struggles

In the beginning, Sam struggled with executive functioning and had trouble regulating his emotions. Despite the struggles, he also had many strengths. Sam is very kind with a lot of energy and is a hard worker.

Goals

Sam had many goals when he first started at Help in the Home. Some of those goals included getting on a consistent exercise schedule, making sure that he was keeping love and kindness on the forefront of his mind, increasing his engagement with his friends, and ultimately, living independently. We couldn’t have been happier to come alongside Sam to achieve those goals!

Wins!

Since joining Help in the Home, Sam feels that his biggest “wins” are gaining insight into his illness, getting a job, practicing meditation, and living independently. He also shares that Help in the Home has made him happy, healthy, peaceful, and filled with love and kindness.

We couldn’t be happier to see Sam flourish!
