Our SLC- A Place to Call Home 2.0

We are excited to share that in February 2025, Help in the Home took an exciting step forward by moving our Supported Living Community to a new location in Rockville, Maryland. We are so fortunate that this move caused very little disruption to our community since this move was literally across the street to The Ivy Rockville. This transition allowed us to thoughtfully expand and refine the environment where our community members live, connect, and grow. As we settle into this new chapter, we currently have open beds available and are welcoming individuals who may benefit from long-term, community-based support.

Our Supported Living Community

Choosing the right support for a loved one living with serious mental illness is not just about safety. It is about dignity, stability, and the opportunity to live a meaningful life. At Help in the Home, our Supported Living Community reflects this belief in every detail.

This community is the heart of our work. It is where individualized support, compassionate relationships, and everyday life come together to create real opportunity for growth and independence.

Designed for Real Life

Our Supported Living Community is located in Rockville, Maryland and consists of five townhouses within a residential rental neighborhood. The community serves up to 15 adults, each with a private bedroom and shared living spaces that encourage connection while honoring personal independence.

Location is intentional. Community members are within walking distance of public transportation, Montgomery College, a beautiful community park with walking trails, and everyday shopping and services. These opportunities support independence, engagement, and confidence in daily life.

What truly sets our Supported Living Community apart is the presence of 24/7 on site professional support. Help in the Home Community Specialists are available at all times to provide medication monitoring, crisis response, and guidance with daily routines. This consistency creates safety and stability for community members and peace of mind for families.

A Community That Feels Like Home

Our Supported Living Community is designed to feel like home.

Meals are shared, birthdays and milestones are celebrated, and community outings are part of everyday life. Relationships develop naturally as people spend time together in a supportive environment. Over time, neighbors become trusted allies and meaningful connections form.

Emotional and social well being are just as important as clinical care. Community members are encouraged to recognize their own strengths and contributions. The result is a culture of respect, belonging, and shared responsibility that supports long term stability.

Individualized Support With Purpose

There is no typical day in our Supported Living Community because no two people are the same.

Some community members work full-time, part-time, or volunteer. Others attend day programs or focus on personal interests. Daily routines are shaped around individual goals, strengths, and needs.

Our Care Coordinators work closely with community members, families, and outside providers to ensure care remains thoughtful and responsive. Management of care, including medical appointments and medication, life skills development, and care coordination are integrated into daily life in ways that feel natural and supportive.

This approach allows individuals to grow at their own pace while knowing consistent support is always available.

A Commitment to Quality and Collaboration

Our Supported Living Community is grounded in long term, ethical, and individualized care for adults living with serious mental illness. We are committed to ongoing learning, collaboration, and high standards of practice so that our community continues to evolve while staying true to its purpose.

Supported living is an essential part of the continuum of mental health care. When done well, it offers structure without restriction and support without sacrificing independence.

Who Our Supported Living Community Serves

Our Supported Living Community is a good fit for adults who benefit from consistent support and structure while living in the community. It is ideal for individuals who value small, relationship based environments and are seeking long term stability rather than short term solutions.

A Place to Move Forward

When someone joins our Supported Living Community, they are not simply entering a program. They are joining a community built on respect, trust, and the belief that people can grow and thrive with the right support.
