Help in the Home: How did you begin working for Help in the Home?
Maura:
“I was living in DC, new to the area and soon to begin my 2nd year of grad school at Catholic University. I was looking to build on my prior experience working with adults with severe mental illness in a community setting. I came across Help in the Home in my search and felt this could be a really good fit for me. I interviewed with Stacy, one of our co-founders, as a PRN staff at the Supported Living Community and my journey began!”
Help in the Home: What were your first impressions?
Maura:
“Help in the Home was a warm and welcoming environment. I quickly realized it was a comfortable environment for me, where I could have my voice heard and make a positive impact.”
Help in the Home: What are the key factors that have contributed to your longevity with the organization?
Maura:
“Plain and simple, the people. The clients, the staff, the ownership. It all comes down to good people, being treated with respect, and being valued by the people around me. I’ve also had the opportunity to grow as a leader within Help in the Home. The organization’s commitment to my growth and personal development has been incredibly important to me. I enjoy being able to pass along my knowledge and experience while continuing to learn from the varying backgrounds of our clients and team members.”
Help in the Home: What are some of your favorite memories?
Maura:
“Most of my favorite memories are small moments with laughter shared. It’s always a special moment when I’m able to create a positive connection with a new client. A big milestone memory was our celebration of Help in the Home’s 10th Anniversary. I loved being able to introduce my own family to the team members I work with and some of the clients we serve so they could see the incredible work we do together.”
Help in the Home: Anything else you would like to share?
Maura:
“More than anything I want to thank the team members, families, and providers who continue to show up for our clients and each other every day. You all make the hard work very worthwhile and I’m grateful for the many amazing relationships I’ve formed along the way.”
We are so honored that Maura has chosen to grow her career with us. It has been such a joy and a privilege to work alongside her and watch her transform into the leader she is today.
